About Texas CBE™
Texas CBE™ is an independent practice platform built specifically for the Texas Credit by Examination (CBE) — the state acceleration route established by Texas Education Code §28.023 and the prior-instruction credit route in 19 Texas Administrative Code §74.24. We help Texas families prepare for the CBE rigorously, ethically, and affordably.
What is Credit by Examination?
Credit by Examination (CBE) is the Texas pathway that lets a student earn academic credit for a subject they already know — without sitting through the course. Two distinct routes exist:
- TEC §28.023 acceleration — for students with no prior instruction in the subject. Passing standard: 80%.
- 19 TAC §74.24 prior-instruction credit — for students who studied the subject but did not receive formal credit. Passing standard: 70%.
Every Texas school district is required to offer Credit by Examination at least twice per year, free to the student.
Our mission
We exist to make Texas Credit by Examination winnable for any motivated student — not just those whose families can afford private tutoring at $50–$150 per hour.
Our practice exams are TEKS-tagged, modeled after the official CBE format (multiple-choice; 90 questions for math, 50 for science, etc.), independently authored, and priced at $19.99 per subject for six months. We do not administer the CBE. We do not grant credit. We help you prepare.
What we provide
- Full-length timed mock exams — same length, same format, same difficulty mix as the official CBE.
- TEKS-aligned content — every question is tagged to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills standard it tests.
- AI-powered explanations — on every wrong answer, in plain English (and 4 other languages).
- Free 20-question sample per subject — no signup, no credit card.
- Verified state-DOE testing schedules — for Texas STAAR + 10 other states' math exams.
- Five-language support — English, Korean, Spanish, Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese.

Statutory pathways — the legal framework for Texas Credit by Examination
TEC §28.023 (Acceleration CBE). A Texas school district shall administer to a student in kindergarten through Grade 12 an examination for acceleration if the student has had no prior formal instruction in the subject. To earn credit, the student must score at least 80%. Districts must offer the exam at least twice per school year, free of charge to the student.
19 TAC §74.24 (Credit by Examination — Prior Instruction). A student in Grade 6 through 12 who has had prior instruction in a subject for which the school district does not award credit may earn credit by passing a CBE with a score of at least 70%. The exam may be administered up to twice per school year.
