Houston ISD (HISD) CBE lets K-12 students skip a class (acceleration) or earn course credit. Grades 1-5 require 80% on EACH of Language Arts / Math / Science / Social Studies. Max 3 course credits per administration and max 2 attempts per subject during HISD enrollment.
Lubbock ISD CBE — Parent Guide: 80% Pass + Local TTU K-12 Advantage (2026-2027)
Lubbock ISD Credit by Examination: 80% for acceleration, 70% for credit recovery. TTU K-12 vendor is headquartered in Lubbock — local advantage.
Carroll ISD Southlake CBE — Family Resource Guide: 80% Pass, UTHS-Only, District-Paid (2026-2027)

Plano ISD organizes credit-by-exam by grade band: Grades 1-5 (80% on each of Science/SS/Math/LA), Grades 6-8 (single-grade advancement), Grades 9-12 (credit for courses not taken OR previously attempted). Max 2 attempts. Placement changes at start of school year only.
McKinney ISD CBE — Parent Guide: 80%/70% Passing, 3-HS Structure (2026-2027)
McKinney ISD Credit by Examination: 80% for acceleration (TEC §28.023), 70% for credit recovery (19 TAC §74.24). Registration through your campus counselor at McKinney HS, McKinney Boyd, or McKinney North. District Assessments office administers.
